Do I have to unplug the original hard drive and install the TOS system for the new hard drive I added to the idle bay of my device?

You should not install the TOS system separately for each hard drive. To add a new hard drive, please insert it into the device while the device is running.

Installing the TOS system separately for each hard drive will cause the arrays to have the same name because each hard drive is built with a single-disk array by default. Once all hard drives have been inserted, the TOS system can select only one of the hard drives randomly to display the data. If you have installed the TOS system separately for each hard disk and the device can only read data on one of them, please follow the steps below:

  • 1. Data backup: Turn off the device, insert one hard drive, turn the device back on, and then back up the data in the hard drive.

  • 2. Array deletion: Log in to TOS, open “Control Panel” > “Storage Manager” > “Storage pool”, select “Storage pool 1”, and then click “Delete”.

  • 3. Array creation: Turn off the device, insert all hard drives, turn the device back on, click “Control Panel” > “Storage Manager” > “Storage pool”, and then click “Create”. You can use your device normally after the creation of the array.
