Why does the device display show two partitions on formatting the hard disk? One partition shows a 2TB capacity, but the additional partition cannot be used. 

This is caused by selecting the MBR partition option when initialising the hard drive. If the hard drive capacity is greater than 2TB, it is important to select the GPT partition option to make full use of the hard drive space.
